Introduction
In collaboration with TCKN Jogja, our visit to Yogyakarta in August 2026 focused on providing medical support to a diverse community — from former migrant workers and young girls to teachers, parents, and elders.
In many parts of Indonesia, rich culinary traditions often go hand-in-hand with high rates of blood cholesterol and hypertension. Paired with a low perception of chronic illness, many lack access to routine monitoring and stop taking prescribed blood pressure medication the moment symptoms fade.
Our mission was built to bridge these gaps from the ground up:
Monitoring & Screening
Working alongside local health departments to help bring basic care closer to village communities, we ran everyday health screenings for adults (covering BMI, vision, glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure) alongside simple growth checks for toddlers.
Educating Minds & Root-Cause Nutrition
Health starts with understanding. Through personalized consultations, interactive workshops and health education sessions, we shared practical dietary changes, addressed the need of taking medication consistently and debunked common misconceptions around aging—from chronic pain to dementia. These sessions provided guidance on balanced nutrition and empowered sustainable lifestyle adjustments. For our younger participants, tailored Hong Kong food tasting sessions and nutrition-themed songs made learning about both culture and healthy eating fun and interactive.
Hands-On First Aid Training
From CPR and choking response to wound care, we equipped participants with practical lifesaving skills. Local educators and parents received specialized guidance on managing pediatric emergencies and sudden childhood illnesses.
Art Therapy & Mental Health
Caring for well-being goes beyond physical health. With the children, we hosted a hands-on workshop making eye masks, using art as an approachable creative tool to teach self-expression and emotional awareness.
By empowering individuals with knowledge and supporting local healthcare outreach, we hope to build long-term resilience across generations. As we look ahead, we’re excited to expand into more rural areas and continue tailoring our curriculum to meet the unique needs of the community.
